At a special press conferende in Budapest on Wednesday the Hungarian Water Polo Federation announced the launching of the 2014 European Championships website. Info about the tournament, the venue, tickets and the city of Budapest can be found here. With the five-month countdown mark coming up on Friday the tournament organisation announced the start of the renovation of the pool terrace and other reconstruction of the Alfred Hajos facility, host of the championships, will commence next week while both ambassadors, former greats Tamas Kasas and Rita Dravucz, demonstrated the tournament mascotte, a frog. Also the Hungarian women's team preparation towards the tournament was unveiled as far as decided and will include joint training camps with the Dutch national team, the USA women and participation in the Kirishi Cup. Tickets are being sold at a good pace, but no need to worry as many of them will be starting to be on sale later. The ones who were available for the semi-finals and finals are already sold out, as was announced on Wednesday. A sales boost is expected after March 9 when the tournament draw will be held. Although the women's field is set, the final men's teams to be present in Budapest this summer will be determined on March 1 and 2 when the various leg 2 of the qualification play-offs matches will be played.
